The Apple supplier Foxconn plans to invest five billion dollars in India over the next five years. The money was to be put in new factories in the state of Maharashtra, the Taiwanese company said on Saturday. An agreement had been signed. According to Indian estimates are to be created with the agreement 50,000 jobs.
Foxconn is the largest high-tech supplier in the world. The company builds iPhones and iPads for Apple, Dell and HP laptops for gaming consoles as well as for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. So far, the group leaves with headquarters in Taiwan to build, especially in China. Around 1.3 million people are employed there at Foxconn. Thus, the company is by far the largest private employer in the country.
However, Foxconn is always due to poor working conditions in the criticism. Above all, a series of suicides among workers has brought the company into disrepute.
