Rejection of aid for Greece in Union increases – Reuters Germany


       

Berlin (Reuters) – With their course in Greece-policy loses Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) in the ranks of the CDU and CSU in the Bundestag of voting to vote on backing.


       

At the Parliament’s vote on the third aid package there was According to the Protocol on Wednesday 63 negative votes from the Union. Those were three negative votes more than the consent of the Bundestag on the negotiating mandate in July, although three Unions MPs were missing, the time had voted ‘no’. Together with three abstentions followed again by a good fifth of the non-majority line of the Group. 228 deputies voted for the Union-aid package. That was a good 77 percent of the 294 present MPs from the CDU and CSU.


       

The SPD voted almost unanimously at unchanged four negative votes for new aid to Greece. The vast majority of the Green Party (52 Yes, once No, eight abstentions) supported the aid package, after the greater part of its deputies had listed the negotiating mandate in July. In the Left Party, the number of abstentions increased to seven, while times were 45 no.


       

Overall, the Bundestag approved the European aid package worth 86 billion euros with a wide majority of 453 votes in favor and 113 no-votes and 18 abstentions.
