Börse: Buffett invested one billion US dollars in Apple – Times Online

The American investor Warren Buffett bought shares of Apple worth a billion dollars. His investment company Berkshire Hathaway announced that it held the end of March 9.8 million Apple shares. In the document, the value of the shares is stated at 1.07 billion dollars.

Buffet thus purchased the securities at a time when the hinted that Apple’s sales decline. End of April, the company announced to have sold fewer iPhones in the second quarter 2016 for the first time. The revenues of the company decreased to 50.6 billion dollars 13 percent less than last year.

The Apple shares had lost then its value. The price dropped from $ 108 to $ 90. The investor Carl Icahn, for example, sold his shares. He held shares worth several billion US dollars. After it became known that Buffett now invested in Apple, the price rose temporarily by three percent. Buffett’s shares are likely to currently be worth about 900 million dollars.

In recent weeks there had been rumors that Buffett would also participate in Yahoo. He had, however, back in a conversation with CNBC. “I do not know the business and do not know how to evaluate it.” But he was willing to support the bid by billionaire Dan Gilbert if his investment is secure.

Buffett had been little investment in technology companies. The documents published now it is clear that he also acquired in addition to Apple shares. So Berkshire Hathaway invested in additional shares of IBM. The Company now holds shares of the firm worth about twelve million dollars.
