The train drivers’ union GDL wants bestreiken passenger traffic on Tuesday for six days. In freight transport, the recusal should already start one day earlier, on Monday and continue for seven days, said the union.

The strike should take at nine clock in passenger from May 5 by two clock in the morning until 10 May. In freight transport should be already on strike on Monday by 15 clock. It would be already the eighth strike in the already long-running labor dispute.

“Once again, forcing the German railway’s own train drivers, train conductors and Lokrangierführer for industrial action”, said the GDL with. Its chairman Claus Weselsky want to comment on Monday in Berlin at the scheduled walkout. The German railway called the strike as “excessive and unreasonable”.

The union had rejected the new wage offer from the company on Thursday and announced another, long labor dispute. The railway had offered, wages should rise from 1st July in two steps by a total of 4.7 percent. These get a one-time payment of 1,000 euros until June 30.

The GDL calls for employees five percent more money and one hour less work per week. But the pay is not the core of the conflict: The GDL wants to conclude their own contracts not only for train drivers, but also for train and Rangierführer. This also aims to larger, competing union ECG. The railway in turn wants to avoid different degrees of the same occupational group.

Bahn personnel chief Ulrich Weber had brought again a conciliation into play. The only way to quickly get results. “We have reached a point where we need to consult a neutral party.”

The union has been on strike in the labor dispute seven times the freight or passenger. Last train drivers went on strike April 21 to 23. A settlement had been rejected, the union
