Verdi expands warning strike at German Post in Hessen from – THE WORLD

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – The warning strikes in the mail and parcel delivery by Deutsche Post in Hesse are spreading. Even letter carriers in the center of Frankfurt and parcel delivery in Kassel are called to work stoppage, the Verdi union said on Saturday. The walkout at letters in more than ten cities go further – among which are Limburg, and Butzbach. Even the strike of parcel delivery in nearly ten cities will continue. The strike of the delivery is to be continued, according to Verdi by Tuesday.

The union is demanding a reduction in working time from 38.5 to 36 hours without loss of pay and 5.5 percent more money. The Post had offered, among other things, to extend the protection against dismissal and to agree on further recovery times. The next negotiations are scheduled for 20 and 21 May in Koenigswinter near Bonn. Last Wednesday, the strikes by the post had little effect on the delivery of letters.
