US-Japan Car: airbag company Takata initiated record recall in the United States – the world

The Japanese auto parts maker Takata has led to record recall of nearly 34 million cars in the US because of defective airbags. The company will double the number of so beorderten in the workshop vehicles, shared with the US authorities. US Transport Minister Anthony Foxx said Takata had also for the first time acknowledged that the built-in eleven different car brands airbags of the company are erroneous. This affects, among others, car manufacturers Honda, Toyota, General Motors, BMW and Ford.

Defective Airbags “were, according to our findings in charge of at least five deaths “Foxx said. The air cushion can burst due to an error in the gas generator in a split second and hurt by hot metal driver and front passenger or even kill. In the largest according to official figures recall in US automotive history, the dangerous guards are now to be replaced.

According to the authorities could complete replacement of Takata airbags, however, take years. Foxx said his ministry is working at full speed to “the greatest risks first” tackle and ensure an exchange of faulty devices. “We will finish our work only if each bag has been replaced,” he added.

In recent years, several car makers already had because of defective Takata airbags have to recall more than 20 million vehicles, including Toyota, Nissan, Honda and General Motors. Takata is one of the largest bag manufacturers and has dozens of locations in 20 countries, including several in Germany. The company is accused of using his airbag ignored for years and then acted too late problems. It therefore considers itself to various legal proceedings and investigations by authorities suspended.
