The labor dispute at Deutsche Post to shorter working hours comes to a head. In the fourth round of negotiations Ver.di rejected a new offer from the employer to be insufficient. The negotiations broke down then. On the progress should now decide the Tariff Commission. Ver.di announced at the same time for the coming week to nationwide strike action.
The human resources manager of the post office, Melanie circle, reacted with incomprehension to the negative attitude of the union. “We have presented a very solid offer in our view and are disappointed that this was rejected in the lump.” The management had offered, among other things, the protection against dismissal by three years until the end of 2018 and introduce the 24 and 31 December again as non-working days. From this total of one hour less workweek resulting loss of pay.
The union is demanding a reduction in weekly working hours from 38.5 to 36 hours without loss of pay. The Post rejects these claims. Ver.di negotiator Andrea Kocsis said. “With their trade Post exacerbated the labor dispute. This will not tolerate employees.” Instead of protecting and perspective there is more uncertainty, Kocsis said. Now the signs were on the storm.
The Post called the union with a view to re-pending strikes on to return to the negotiating table. Background of the collective dispute is the creation of regional companies in the parcel delivery. Sees Ver.di breach of collective agreements.
In the fourth round of collective bargaining, the union also had put their ideas on charges of also renegotiated company agreement on the table. The requirement of 5.5 percent made more money for the 140,000 employees for further trouble. The Post dismissed the claims back as unrealistic and unviable. About this tariff complex now want to negotiate on 20 and 21 May in Bonn Post and Ver.di. Whether or not the topic of working time reduction once again put on the table or remains excluded, is not clear.
