 While Athens and the creditors still struggling for the conclusion of the second aid program, German Economics Minister Gabriel brings a new rescue package this week. Unconditional aid will not give it, assured the head of the SPD.

 


 
 

Federal Minister Sigmar Gabriel holds another aid package for Greece for conceivable. Prerequisite is, however, that the government fulfill obligations in return. “A third aid package for Athens is only possible if the reforms are implemented,” Gabriel told the “Bild am Sonntag”. “We can not just send money there.”

At present, Greece negotiate and international donors on the conclusion of the second aid package. The creditors group of EU, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund, the last tranche of 7.2 billion euros not released. They demanded that the government implements Stukturreformen and austerity to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras before.

“Now Prime Minister Tsipras has proposed a referendum on the necessary reforms, perhaps accelerating the decision,” said Gabriel. At the same time the minister warned a Greek exit from the euro zone “conjure up”. “The departure of Greece would not be economically, but politically extremely dangerous,” says Gabriel. If the first country go, the rest of the world Europe will look different. “No one will have more confidence in Europe if we break up in the first major crisis.”

Tsipras warned meanwhile the donors before the expectation that his government would give way over time. This is not the case, the “red lines” would remain valid, he said. The left Prime Minister concluded in particular a reduction in pensions and salaries again. “I want to assure the Greek people that there is no way that the government recedes in salaries and pensions. You have suffered enough.”

Without new aid Athens threatened with insolvency. How long the money enough, is unclear. Pension payments and a referral to the IMF, the government can afford only with difficulty.
