Athens (Reuters) – In the debt dispute between Greece and its creditors, the Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann has been campaigning for a new agreement attempt.
Faymann said on Wednesday after a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, but this would all sides show good will. He could not imagine a Europe for happy and peaceful future without Greece.
Tspiras said at the joint press conference that he wanted an “honorable” solution and is willing to accept the political cost for it. But if no such solution be possible, he would oppose the “catastrophic” creditors’ claims. Tsipras reiterated to reject any further pension cuts.
Faymann traveled by its own account, in consultation with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to Athens. The aim is to revive the stalled negotiations between the government in Athens and the donors.
