German Bank: Supervisory Georg Thoma resigns – SPIEGEL ONLINE

The German Bank Supervisory Georg Thoma resigns. The lawyer will resign May 28, the bank said in the evening, without giving reasons. Moreover Thoma give up his chairmanship of the Integrity Committee with immediate effect – he would no longer be members of the committee as a member.

Thoma was recently advised internally in the criticism. The deputy chairman of the board, works council head Alfred Herling had openly opposed him asked: “He covers when he calls ever broader investigations and still deploy more lawyers,” he told the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”. According to the newspaper report Thoma had pursued investigations against supervisory board chief Paul Achleitner.

The Bank currently for potentially dangerous investigations concerning allegations inter alia money laundering by German bank employees in Moscow. The US authorities have turned up. Thoma is considered one of the most experienced business lawyers in Germany.

Achleitner, who won Thoma even three years ago for the panel, stressed the bank will not ease in dealing with the legacy. Thoma have put processes that were for the Bank of great importance and will use her further, he said. “The board is determined to continue to consistently work up possible transgressions and to draw the lessons for the future.”

The Nomination Committee began the succession search, the report said. The Integrity Committee is reported to temporarily lead the US lawyer Louise Parent, who is on the board since, 2014. She is assisted by Johannes Teyssen, also a lawyer and member of the board.
