In manufacturing the business climate has improved again. While industrial companies slightly reduced their assessments of the current situation, they looked more optimistic for the coming months. Production plans were significantly revised upwards.

In both the wholesale and the retail index has dropped noticeably. He is, however, each still well above the long-term average. In construction the business climate index turned back into positive territory. This was mainly due to significantly better situation assessments.

The Ifo index is the most important early indicator of the German economy. It is calculated monthly from the survey of around 7,000 companies from industry, trade and construction.
