Collective bargaining at Deutsche Bahn are after months of tough rings taken a decisive step. The head of the train drivers’ union GDL, Claus Weselsky, speaking after a round of talks in Berlin on Wednesday even a “breakthrough.” According to the two sides reach an agreement for 2014 was achieved. All GDL members receive therefore 510 euro as a single payment for the July to December, it is to be paid in February. The current range includes after train information a fee increase of 5 percent in three steps, improvements in occupational pension schemes and the willingness to negotiate an employee participation. From January to then be negotiated for the period f rom 2015 about it. Specifically, the negotiators partners on 19 and 28 January together again. The GDL had struck several times in the labor dispute.

Railway personnel director Ulrich Weber spoke of a good day for customers and employees. “We can go calmed down in the new year,” said Weber, who was very pleased said. The railway had increased their offer of a lump sum. It had previously located at 390 euros. With the German train drivers union (GDL) competing Railway and Transport union (ECG) receive the same offer, Weber announced.

In return, the GDL no longer penetrates to two hours less work week, but merely requires one hour less, which would result in a 38-hour week, as Weselsky said. He said the train had dropped any conditions for collective bargaining and agreed with the one-time payment for the first time a degree for all GDL members. Weber said the GDL have the interest of the web acknowledged to agree that no competing collective agreements within a professional group with EVG and GDL. “This plain-talking was important.”

Prior to the talks Weselsky announced a break in the month-long labor dispute. I’m not one to negotiate for all GDL members, there would be after 11 January “massive labor disputes,” Weselsky had said before the start of negotiations. Until then applies a strike and negotiation break. The GDL required inter alia five percent more money for the employees. The competing Railway and Transport union ECG had agreed to waive up into January to strike at Deutsche Bahn.

In the labor dispute is essentially the question whether the train drivers’ union may negotiate to other professions such as t rain conductors or board restaurateurs who are members of it. Previously negotiated the competing Railway and Transport union ECG for these groups. The railway in turn wants to avoid tariff competition within the company.

Railway Chief Human Resources Officer Weber had said before the meeting that he had already presented ten or eleven offers. Furthermore must finally be spoken. For me the issue off the table for which occupational groups will negotiate at all.
