Phoenix (Reuters) – Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has set containing tip for women in the nettles and eventually backed out.
Nadella was asked at a conference how women should move forward in the technology sector. “It’s not really about asking for a raise,” Nadella said. “But we need to know and have confidence that the system provides an over time with proper salary increase.” Because “good karma” will pay off eventually added the native Indians at a conference in Arizona, to the women in the computing world should be honored.
The head of the technology group earned for his comment immediately criticism and ridicule – even at the conference and especially in the short message service Twitter. Nadella, who took office in February, sought immediately to limit the damage. A few hours after his comments he said on Twitter that he had been “unclear” expressed about how women should ask for a pay rise. “Our industry needs to close the gap in the gender pay gap between men and women.” Then salary increases to compensate for handicaps are no longer necessary.
Nadella also admitted to its employees an error, Microsoft issued an internal message. “I have answered the question completely wrong,” Nadella wrote. Men and women should get equal pay for equal work. “If you think you deserve a raise, you should just ask for it.”
women in the United States received last year after a study by the Women’s Association AAUW only 78 percent of salary, which were men with the same qualifications. However, there are data that suggest that the wage gap in the technology sector is lower. Of the more than 100,000 Microsoft employees are consolidated reportedly only 29 percent of women.
