Mexico again allowed foreign investment in the oil sector – ORF.at

The opening of the Mexican energy sector to private investors is sealed. President Enrique Pena Nieto yesterday approved the new rules for the previously highly regulated industry. The first details of subsequent tenders will be announced on Wednesday, said the Presidential Office. The Mexican Senate had the legislative package adopted last week.

In the future, the state energy company Pemex should be allowed to enter into contracts with private companies for oil production. The reform was criticized by the leftist opposition. She calls for a referendum on the controversial constitutional amendment.
