Billion gamers Kerviel at large – handelszeitung.ch

After about four months in prison have become known as the billion gamers exchange trader Jerome Kerviel was released. The 37-year-old came on Monday morning released under probation to wear an electronic Feettcuffs until June 2015. Kerviel had begun his three-year prison sentence in May, the Court of Appeal in Paris decreed last week for his release. The prosecution had initially blocked against this step.

“I’m over the moon to come out today,” the former trader said before the prison of Fleury-Mérogis in Paris of his journalists expected amount. “It’s always better than being trapped on nine square meters”. he added. Kerviel wants to lead a normal life and work as a consultant for a computer science company. In the week during the day and throughout the weekend he must leave the apartment.

Kerviel insists he is innocent

A former employee of the Paris banking giant Société Générale had been sentenced in two ways, because he arbitrarily and ruthlessly gambled away € 4.9 billion. Embezzlement, document forgery and manipulation of computer data he received three years in prison, two others were suspended. Kerviel thinks he’s innocent.

He claims that his former employer was aware of the speculation and tolerated it. A trip to Italy before his arrest caused a media sensation, especially Kerviel was also present at a general audience of Pope Francis. There was no affair Kerviel more, but an affair Société Générale, said attorney David Koubbi after the release of his client.
