The International Monetary Fund (IMF) initially does not participate in a third rescue package for Greece threatened by bankruptcy. It must first be ensured that Athens accept the full implementation of the required reforms of the creditors, said a senior IMF official. In addition, the Europeans of the Greek Government would have to grant concessions in the debt service.

“The IMF does not participate until these two conditions are met,” the IMF representative said in a conference call with reporters. The International Monetary Fund could only support a comprehensive program. It would therefore “difficult decisions are made on both sides” – with respect to the Greek side with a view to reforms

and its European partners Athens of debt relief

When Monetary Fund evidently prevail doubt that Athens under the new program. debt sustainability regained. The IMF reportedly believe that will pass away “some time” before both sides create the necessary conditions for the participation of the Fund.

The newspaper Financial Times According to had the IMF leadership on Wednesday discuss how to tackle the Greek crisis. The now required agreements were discussed. “Nobody should be under any illusion that one side alone can solve the problem,” said the IMF representative.

If the Greek Government and the other euro countries agreed in principle on a further rescue package with a volume of up to 86 billion euros agreed. The details need to be clarified in the coming weeks. The government in Athens wants to conclude the negotiations until August 20, when they must repay debts.

A classic haircut for Athens rejects the federal government. In an interview, however, is a kind of haircut light with the extension of repayment deadlines and interest relief. At the same time, the Federal Government attaches great importance to ensuring that the IMF is further involved in the rescue efforts for Greece.
