Economy promises training for refugees – Derwesten.de

Berlin. Although the cameras are rolling and the Federal Economics Minister standing next to him, Theo Baumstark selects clear words. “I do not orient myself on each provision,” says the head of Wiesbaden craft business, “you just afterwards to pay the price.” This realistic setting Baumstark will help in solving the probably the biggest problem of the country.

Along with 330 other companies he wants to pave the way refugees on the labor market. Since there is still considerable bureaucratic hurdles, which now wants to gradually reduce the federal government. “I’ve never had a bad experience with foreigners,” the boss says 80 employees.

The network “companies integrate refugees” will in particular small and medium companies in an advisory capacity. Behind the initiative is the German Industry and Commerce together with the Ministry of Economy. Only if the refugees the way can be paved in the labor market, their integration would succeed, believes Minister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD). “The country is in the future more and no less professionals need” of politicians to the commitment of industry advertises.

Strides walk wants the German Railways. In Munich, Hamburg and Berlin, the group refugee classes has established. 35 seats there. Syrians or Iraqis with knowledge to be made, for example, for a job in Munich ICE plant fit. The track will still create similar classes in many other cities. CEO Rüdiger Grube holds the commitment to a “self-evident”. Problems with employees from different cultures, the Group has not. Among the 310 000 employees, employees find from over 100 nations.

2.8 million euros, the federal government provides for the nationwide network. This year alone there will be 150 cities information sessions for small and medium businesses. DIHK President Eric Schweitzer expects large audiences. “The willingness of the company is very large,” says Schweitzer. Next year, he hopes to up to 5,000 member companies in the initiative.

Quick integration will not work, however. The DIHK is rather out of a period of five to ten years, which is needed to bring many immigrants in regular employment. Because the knowledge of the new citizens correspond in most cases the requirements of the local job market. “The vast majority of these qualifications do not,” says Gabriel. Weak concrete mainly for language skills. “Almost 100 percent can start no German,” says Schweitzer. However, since the majority of the refugees is not yet 25 years old, the effort of training for the national economy will be worth.

This is suggested by a study in the neighboring country Denmark. The University of Copenhagen has studied the great immigration waves of the last 30 years. The additional workers have not subsequently led to higher unemployment among less qualified Danes, from what many were afraid. Rather, these employees would get better jobs and would have been even better paid. However, there have also been among the Danes losers, older and poorly qualified workers. The Danish trade unions see the current development, however, quite different. They fear predatory among the low-skilled. Similar fears are also available in Germany.

The new network is not the first initiative. Previously already be 36 large companies have united under the motto “we together” in a campaign for the integration. The DAX companies are committed primarily for a better understanding of the refugee problem. Schweitzer’s network, however will be training consent firms with advice and assistance. The third man is the Ministry of Education, which has launched a similar initiative specifically for the craft.
