Largest ship in the world in the Port of Hamburg – Swiss Radio and Television

A new giant ship has entered the port of Hamburg. The “CSCL Globe” measures 400 meters and is almost twice as wide as the maximum allowable width of the Panama Canal

With a length of 400 meters, the ” CSCL Globe “the biggest ship in the world. This makes it much as two feet longer than the longest ship, the “Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller.”

“CSCL Globe” ran at daybreak the Port of Hamburg. In the Hanseatic city is the “CSCL Globe” but not fully loaded, but it has a depth of 12.60 meters.

This is the first of five sister ships, which was appointed by the China Shipping. It will operate in future between Asia and Europe.

“CSCL Globe” not only breaks all records of their length. The cargo ship is 58.60 meters wide and can 19’100 standard containers (TEU) transport. For comparison: The amount allowable maximum masses for the trip through the Panama Canal: 294.13 meters long, 32.31 meters width and maximum depth of 12.04 meters
