The financial equalization has been a bone of contention in German politics : Some states do not pay into the pot, others refer it funds. In 2014, as 9.05 billion were redistributed – a record. Bavaria and Hesse, meanwhile, complain against the practice.
The state fiscal equalization has according to a report reached a new record last year. For the first time paid donors more than nine billion euros to the recipient countries, such as the “Handelsblatt” on Wednesday, citing the final statement of financial equalization reported. With exactly 9.05 billion euros so were 600 million euros redistributed more than last year.
By far the largest payer therefore remains Bavaria. The contribution of Baden-Württemberg as the second largest contributor decreased slightly, however, Hesse paid 50 million euros more than the year before. Unlike 2013, Hamburg joined therefore back into the circle of donor countries. The remaining twelve countries remained taker. Greater beneficiary of financial equalization was again Berlin as the “Handelsblatt” reported.
federal and state governments are currently discussing the revision of federal fiscal relations.
