The collective bargaining of the train drivers’ union GDL with Deutsche Bahn initially failed. After a round of negotiations in Berlin train personnel director Ulrich Weber said on Wednesday evening, the GDL had to pop the contract talks surprising.

The collective bargaining between Deutsche Bahn and train drivers’ union GDL failed according to the company. The GDL had let the negotiations burst up surprisingly, the railway announced Wednesday evening. “We were on the verge of a breakthrough and an agreement on a basic structure for regional collective agreement and the GDL refuses baseless,” said DB personnel director Ulrich Weber.

Last week, the unions themselves had moved toward each other, according to both sides. A submitted by the Group proposal for a regional collective was, however, considered by the GDL as insufficient. She had therefore a commitment to introduce a proposal at the meeting itself.
