The per capita consumption rose last year to 107 liters of 106.6 liters in 2013, as the “Bild” newspaper (Monday Edition) reported, citing figures from the German Brewers Federation. The paragraph has risen again for the first time since 2011. The sales drivers therefore included the FIFA World Cup, the short winter and the good weather in spring and early summer.
Germany is still the largest brewery nation in Europe. The total production of the breweries for alcohol-based and free beers have 2014 stood at around 95 million hectoliters, the newspaper reported. 2013 was the sale of domestic breweries, according to the Federal Statistical Office, 94.6 million hectoliters fell to their lowest level since reunification.
