Gabriel calls on Iran to dialogue on Israel’s right to – Reuters Germany


       

Tehran (Reuters) – German Economics Minister Sigmar Gabriel has asked Iran to talk to Germany in the future also on human rights and the destruction of Israel.


       

“For us, the security of Israel is German also of great importance,” Gabriel said at an economic conference on Monday in Tehran. “There are things about which we should speak in respect to each other,” he said in the presence of the Iranian oil minister Bidschan Namdar Sangeneh. Both sides know that there are different points of view. But as friends we must also talk about it, Gabriel said.


       

With the nuclear deal would play a more important role and new responsibilities in the region and in the world on Iran to, the minister said. Iran should become a stabilizing factor in the region and the driving force for peaceful conflict resolution. “Together we must do everything in the region, so that the hostilities are over,” said the Vice-Chancellor with regard to the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.


       

Gabriel and oil minister Sangeneh announced that they wanted the mixed German-Iranian Economic Commission revive. Already at the beginning of next year there will be at ministerial level in Teheran a meeting of this body, that the German-Iranian relations with greater pace is intended to promote. “In it we are agreed,” said Gabriel. The Commission had met last in 2001. Both countries see great opportunities, their once very tight and extensive economic ties after the completion of the nuclear agreement to be able to once again significantly expanded.
